Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, is a singer-songwriter and Canadian American. Her albums span over 20 years. The songs of DiFranco are classified as alternative and folk. However, they also incorporate elements of hip-hop, jazz and punk. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement being one of the first musicians to launch her own record label in 1990. DiFranco was a born on the 23rd of September 1970, in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father is of Italian heritage, while her mother is from Montreal. Ani's song, 32 Flavors was composed by her, and performed by Ani. This song appears on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. On the soundtrack of 1999's Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate is a version of the song. DiFranco apologised in 2013 when it was revealed that she was planning to hold a three day workshop at an Louisiana plantation for slaves. Many (including us) did not feel affected by her decision to cancel. DiFranco issued another apology several days afterwards. Although she's known as Little Peoplesinger, she's worked with many musicians and artists from Pete Seeger through Chuck D all the way to Prince. The singer lives in New Orleans. Ani has the name Kristen Ford. When she was 14, she had begun creating her own music. Her teens were spent playing them in pubs and cafes. DiFranco was a graduate aged 16, from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts High School began to attend classes in Buffalo State College. Ani's new baritone guitar is custom Alvarez built following a series of consultations between myself and Chrys Johnson, who was an artist rep for Alvarez when the guitar was made. The guitar is equipped with their System 600 amp and is constructed from solid woods, including the body with a mahogany top and cedar sides with an ebony-fretboard. Her residence is New Orleans. There she lives with her husband, two children as well as her long-legged companion Lefty. Three decades deep into her career DiFranco admits she has diverse feelings about seeing in the rearview mirror. Ani DiFranco, singer, songwriter and punk/folk performer who was only 25 when she released her 7th album Not A Pretty Girl and achieved even more success in the public with Dilate. The 1972 pop-rock song Brandy (You're a beautiful girl) was written by American group Looking Glass for their debut album Looking Glass. Elliot Lurie is the guitarist/vocalist of Looking Glass.
